About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Platform Engineer with deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure and platform services, enabling our development teams to deploy and run applications efficiently and securely at scale.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Infrastructure & Platform Management

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform
  • Build and manage containerized application platforms using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, Deployment Manager, or similar tools
  • Implement and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
  • Manage service mesh implementations and microservices architecture

Automation & Tooling

  • Develop automation tools and scripts to improve operational efficiency
  • Create self-service platforms and tools for development teams
  • Implement automated deployment, scaling, and recovery mechanisms
  • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Cloud Operations Suite (formerly Stackdriver)

Security & Compliance

  • Implement security best practices across GCP infrastructure
  • Manage IAM policies, service accounts, and access controls
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct security assessments and remediate vulnerabilities
  • Implement network security policies and firewall rules

      Performance & Cost Optimization

      • Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure costs
      • Implement resource tagging and cost allocation strategies
      • Analyze and improve application and infrastructure performance
      • Right-size compute resources and implement autoscaling policies

          Collaboration & Support

          • Work closely with development teams to understand their platform needs
          • Provide technical guidance and support for cloud-native application development
          • Participate in on-call rotation and incident response
          • Document platform architecture, processes, and best practices
          • Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team

                Required Qualifications

                Technical Skills

                • 3+ years of experience working with Google Cloud Platform
                • Strong expertise in GCP core services: Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, VPC, Cloud Load Balancing
                • Extensive experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/GKE)
                • Proficiency in infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or similar)
                • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go
                • Experience with CI/CD tools and GitOps methodologies
                • Deep understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, VPN)
                • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring)

                    Professional Experience

                    • Proven track record of managing production infrastructure at scale
                    • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems
                    • Understanding of DevOps and SRE principles and practices

                        Soft Skills

                        • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities
                        • Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
                        • Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional teams
                        • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively

                            Preferred Qualifications

                            • Google Cloud Professional Certifications (Cloud Architect, Cloud Engineer, or Security Engineer)
                            • Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments
                            • Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Anthos Service Mesh)
                            • Experience with Infrastructure compliance and policy enforcement tools (Cloud Asset Inventory, Policy Controller)
                            • Familiarity with BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub for data engineering workflows
                            • Experience with serverless technologies (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run)
